THE BARD IS BACK

Two plays by William Shakespeare will be performed in Romford and Brentwood in 2014 with auditions soon.

Brentwood Shakespeare is putting on the classic ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, and Romford Summer Theatre, another classic, ‘Twelfth Night’.

brentwod ShakespeareBrentwood will be holding auditions at the Friends Meeting House, 49 Hutton Road, Shenfield, Brentwood CM15 8NF on Saturday January 11 at 10am.

‘Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind; and therefore is wing’d Cupid painted blind?

The start of a feast of Shakespearian comedy he is believed to have written between 1590 and  1596, and portraying the events surrounding the marriage of the Duke of Athens.

Lisa Matthews wWith many plumb parts it is a thespians’ delight as love is depicted in a circle of mischievous fun by Puck where even a donkey is given a pheromone to catch the ‘eye’.

The highlight of the season will be a special performance of the play as part of Brentwood Arts Festival in the grounds of Ingatestone Hall on July 6, 2014.

Vernon Keeble-Watson wROMFORD SUMMER THEATRE ia putting on TWELFTH NIGHT in Raphael Park, Romford in June with auditions being held at Fairkytes Arts Centre, Billet Lane, Hornchurch on Tuesday February 4 and Thursday February 6, between 8-10pm.

For those who enjoyed the movie ‘Shakespeare in Love’, the end of the film saw the beginning of the writing of Twelfth Night.

Another  mix of fortunes and identities with shipwrecked Viola, believing her brother Sebastian to be dead, pretends to be a boy and becomes a servant to the Duke of Orsino who offers his heart to Lady Olivia, but the lady falls for Viola believing her to be a him? Confused, you will be, but all resolves itself in the magical setting of the Rockery in Romford’s premier park in June.
