BLACKMORE PLAYERS’ ANSWER TO BABY SITTER EMPLOYMENT

The curtain is going up this Thursday (May 8) as Blackmore Players get their teeth into Victoria Wood’s Acorn Antiques The Musical.

The subject of a sharp stick waved by the formidable actress, it was aimed at the early days of television live soaps when forgotten lines and sets with attitude became a legend in their own right.

The adult dialogue is a good reason for leaving the youngsters at home, and it runs until Saturday May 10 in the village theatre in the centre of Blackmore.

Under the direction of Rosemarie Nelson, the Players have been hard at it for the past weeks tackling the technical aspects that turn the musical into laugh a minute evening. (above picture; Ms Berta and Ms Babs)

Setting the action in the quaint little village of Manchesterford, the outlandish plots and devilish characters settle on the population with the conversion to a Coffee Bar of an  awfully quaint local Acorn Antiques Shop, run by the squeaky voiced cyber Barbie Doll, Ms Babs and her sister, Berta..

The highly improbable plot explodes when a frantic version of wonder woman  called Bonny, parachutes in with plans to plaster the quaint High Street with a mixture of  tanning vans, grot-coffee shops, and  a thong and panty hut.

Ms Babs, by now in Barbie hysteria, calls her forces to the flag and gets help from Mrs Overall, (pictured right) the symbolic tea lady with her trusty stained tea pot and home made macaroons, the answer to Armageddon and the excruciating  Only Way is Essex, (TOWIE) in one serving.
